A water cooler is a type of mechanical and electronic device which is used to dispense hot or cold water. There are two main categories of water coolers namely water coolers and bottled water coolers. One can use either a direct supply of water in the coolers or use a bottled supply.

It is used more often in the private commercial buildings such as hospitals, banks, businesses and other facilities. One can choose any kind of water cooler depending on requirement and design. The wall mounted water cooler is also known as water fountain or drinking fountain. The bottle on the top of the water dispenser are known as bottom load water dispenser and also used quite commonly. Freestanding water cooler is also used quite commonly in which bottles are placed spout down form. In such water coolers, you have a specific kind of filtration mechanism such as reverse osmosis, ion exchange and activated carbon. Depending on the requirement, cost, size and other considerations, one can choose a specific type of water cooler. Modern units also come with a refrigeration function to chill the water.
